The Chicago Flower and Garden Show starts tomorrow, and for the first time in forever, it actually feels and looks like spring for the show! Usually its snowing, or has just snowed, is incredibly cold and dreary, and though the flowers are a bright spot, its hard to really get in the mood. Yesterday, when I woke up, I wanted to run around the yard to see if there was anything pushing up out of the soil-- but I resisted.
This year's theme is Hort Couture, where the worlds of flowers and fashion collide! Super cute theme, and it reminds me of the summer the Michigan Avenue gardens were turned over to fashion design students. Can't wait to see what all the garden designs look like this year!
New this year will be a green roof display, something that is very popular in Chicago, and a seed exchange (!!!). There is also going to be a floral design demonstration from Michael Gaffney, photography classes with Allen Rokach, and edible gardening classes with William Moss.
The Chicago Flower and Garden Show runs from March 10-18, at Navy Pier. Ticket information can be found here-- there is a discount when buying your tickets online!
