4 Free and Fun Things to Do in Florida

I was reading 4 Fun Things to Do in Florida by fellow blogger, Kecia, over on Southern Girl Ramblings and I got to thinking how everyone thinks of Disney World when they hear about a Florida vacation. When we were in Florida last summer I couldn't help but think how expensive it must be to live near so many exciting options. And in just the two weeks we were there I ran through more money than I have on any other vacation-- including those to Europe. 

But I'm here to tell you that there are a lot of free and fun things to do in Florida-- and we did all of these.

Summer's Here! Sign 'Em Up for AMF's Summer Unplugged!

Summer is long. True, its never long enough for me, but it can get long for kids that are not away at camp or need something new and different to do every day. Last year AMF had a summer program for kids, offering free bowling every day and they are doing it again this year! It's a great way to get the kids out of the house and active. 

What's Blooming in the Garden, #Whatsblooming Spring Edition

Given the extremely mild winter we have been having, the garden is doing great and flowers are popping up everywhere. Because of the heavily shaded yard we have here at the new house Spring and late summer into fall are the most bountiful times of year. All the summers of trial and error, getting used to the new growing conditions a shaded forest has and microclimates that a hillside create are beginning to pay off. 


There is plenty that needs doing, plants that need dividing, replacing, borders that need reestablishing and tons of mulching. 

Crocs Adrina Strappy Sandals, The Best Pair of Shoes EVER!

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know that when I love something I need to tell everyone about it. Same goes for the shoes I buy, and I am currently in love with my Crocs. Not just any old Crocs though, I love the new Adrina jellies.

Chicago Event: International Gem and Jewelry Show

Last year I was super excited to be able to attend the International Gem and Jewelry Show in Chicago for the first time. I remember reading about the show when I was very young and had my own subscription to Rock and Gem, so actually being able to go was very exciting. 

One of the perks of living in a city like Chicago is that big shows like this are sure to pull in-- twice a year. That's right, this weekends show is the spring edition, and around Labor Day will be the Fall edition!

I'm A Little Scared of Paris

I am sure that any Parisian who reads the title of this blog post just smiled and congratulated himself/herself on a job well done.  It's true though, I've let myself get scared over the thought of going to Paris even though I know its going to be fantastic.
